3D View

3D View of the 3D Debugger (the top left hand pane) can have two modes: View and Modify. To switch between them use radio buttons on 3D page of the Form View or Views > 3D submenu.

3D View shows the current model as an three dimensional object. In view mode one can look at the model from different points of view. To rotate the mode use left mouse button. To pan - hold shift key and use left mouse button. To zoom - use right mouse button. Making circles with mouse while holding the left mouse button causes the model to rotate around axis orthogonal to the screen.

Note that in View mode manipulations of the view does not change anything in the geometry of the model. Only point of view is changing. These actions are similar to movements of a TV camera around the scene, closing up or moving away from the objects.

While viewing, the  rotations are performed around origin of the local frame associated with the current object. If there is no current object in the model the rotation is performed around origin of global axes.

The "Modify" mode is used to change selection of current object, translate or rotate current object with the mouse or perform Join operation. Modify mode does change relative positions of objects and position of the object in the global system of coordinates (global frame).

Normally 3D view stays in View mode. Modify mode is used to switch current object or perform other operations, after which we suggest to switch back to view mode to avoid changing accidentally position of the local frame.

To modify or view properties of an object the object has to be selected as current. The current object is highlighted in 3D View with a selection color. By default it is reddish gray color. Selection color can be changed from Menu >Current > Options > Color page dialog. See also Model Modifications.

By default 3D view displays global axes with red, green and blue colors for x, y and z axis correspondently. To hide the global axes clear "Global axes" check box on 3D Page of the Form View. Each object also displays its local frame. To hide those clear "Show local frame" check box on Current Object Page of the Form. To hide or show all local frames which are not current, use commands from Menu > Sections > "Show Frames" submenu.

Global axes are drawn with conical pointers. Local axes are drawn with flat triangle corners as pointers.

When a point is selected in the Cross Edit view correspondent 3D line is highlighted in 3D with green color. "Selected line" check box on 3D page allows disabling of this feature. "Selected Point" control on the same page enables display of intersection point of the currently selected 3D line with the cross-section plane.
