Installation
1. After downloading the self-extracting executable, run the executable to extract setup files. Select a temporary directory to extract to.
2. If the installation does not start automatically, run extracted Setup.exe for an easy installation. There is no need to reboot.
3. Optional: To save space, remove temporary extracted files.
It is recommended to keep the downloaded self-extracting executable to be able to revert to the update in case of a bad release.
Installation of a shared license
Shared (Enterprise) license can be used by an unlimited number of users on the local network. It
is normally installed on a file server.
1. Install KernelCAD Developer on a computer accessible from the local network by repeating steps 1-3 from the standard installation above.
This installation will work as a license server for KernelCAD users. The destination folder selected in step 2 must be a shared folder. Avoid using subfolders of special system folders like
"Program Files" as the target.
If you already have a license go to step 4.
2. From the Start Menu select Programs > DInsight > KernelCAD 4.3 > KernelCAD Enterprise > Licensing. Press
"Create Request" button. In the appeared dialog press OK button. The software should open
a page titled License Request Form on DInsight web site. If this does not happen automatically select the
contents of the edit box on the last dialog and paste it into edit box on the top of
this page: LicRequest.aspx 3.
If you have already made the payment or do not wish to use your credit card
choose "I will use another payment option". Fill the form and press
Submit. When payment is processed DInsight will send you a license.
4. Save text of the Enterprise License received from DInsight as KerCADe.lic file in the license
server installation folder
KernelCAD_4_3.
5. To add reference to the license file on a user computer open Licensing Dialog from Start > Programs > DInsight > KernelCAD
4.3 > KernelCAD Enterprise > Licensing. Enter
the path of the license file relative to the local machine into the edit box. Press OK.
If, for example, KernelCAD license server was installed to a shared folder,
which was mapped locally as P drive, then the path entered on the local machine must contain
a string similar to:
P:\KernelCAD_4_3\KerCADe.lic
If the license was installed on a peer computer at the default location the license path should look
like:
\\John\Projects\KernelCAD_4_3\KerCADe.lic
