The initial problem was that when I am trying to open this file I get "The model has unexpected format" error.

It appears that the file buffer.glm you send us was not generated by DInsight software. It is possible that
it is a small piece of a badly corrupt model file. Though it is more likely that the file has nothing to
do with KernelCAD. May be it was intended for some different application, which uses the same .glm extension?
I believe (unfortunately) GLIM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GLIM_(software) also uses the .glm file type
If you generated it with our software we need know the sequence of your actions.
