glm in Access

Post by Ibi »

Hello
Is it possible to have glm file stored in ACCESS data base? If I remember correctly paradox allowed graphics file to be stored in their data base. With Access I store the name of the graphics file and this is normally OK but if for any reason if the name is modified, miss-spelt then program fails to open the graphics file or try to open it with wrong name or try to save it with wrong name.
Thank you

Hi Ibi
I know about few customers storing KC models in Access db
Yes it is handy. One day we might have some facility inside KC for that. Right now there is nothing special
I am sure Access can store variable length records: Googled for “storing blobs in access database” and you will get some nice results. This way I would probably just insert contents of a glm file as a blob field.
There would be issues with size and backups. Also if the db gets corrupted you lose whole bunch. Backups, possibly automated, should help with that

Nick
