Modifications of a Generic 3D Object
When a 3D object is selected in 3D View as current, two
dimensional Cross-section View
will display cross-sectional segment strip, which is the intersection of surface of
the object with cross-section plane. Check Cross Plane check box on 3D page
of the Form to see the cross-section plane in 3D View.
Blue vertical line in Profile View shows current cross position. The line can
be
moved with the mouse. Precise position can be set by using
correspondent edit box in Form View. When cross position coincides with one of
base knots, modifications in the Cross Editor apply to joints of the 3D surface
strips (See also Cross-section Editor).
This is equivalent to selecting the correspondent point in Profile
Editor and modifying it as opposed to selecting a segment by clicking on a
middle point.
Selecting a point or segment in the Cross View will display its properties in
the Current Object Page of the Form. Selection of an element in Cross View is
equivalent to selection of a correspondent 3D element. Selection of a
point in cross-section will highlight correspondent curve in 3D view.
When a point or segment is selected in cross-section,
Profile View displays plot of current parameter for the selected object.
For example, when a point is selected in cross-section, Profile View will show plot of
the first coordinate against z. To change the parameter which is currently displayed in the
Profile Editor use background menu (Right mouse button) or select another option from the Current Profile combo box on Profile Page of the Form
View. This combo box is not available when there are no objects selected in Cross View
or the selected object has no editable parameters ( like a straight line
for example). Name of the current profile is displayed in the right bottom
corner of the Profile View.
The displayed curves in either of 2D editors can be
modified with the mouse or by editing parameters on the Current Object Page of
the Form or by using Properties dialog from the context menu (Right mouse button).
Base knots are shown with red ticks in the Profile View. Knots of a 3D
Object base can be modified by drugging it with the mouse or using Menu
> Base > Modify dialog. To insert a new knot select Menu > Base >New
knot and click in profile view where you would like to place
it. In the this case only horizontal position of the mouse matters.
New Knot
command from the Command Page of the From creates a knot at the current
cross position
Geometrical resolution of the object can be modified
by using Options dialog
accessible through Menu > Current Object > Options
command.
